Samahani
August 14, 2009
Meet Samahani, his name means ‘excuse me’ in Swahili…it’s a little long so I usually just call him Hani. We don’t run into many Havanese doggies at the dog park and most people who ask about him have never heard of his breed. I thought I’d share a little about them.
Havenese…
-don’t shed. He has hair, it would grow forever if I didn’t cut it. I keep him in the shorter puppy cut.
-are very happy and playful. Hani darts from room to room at breakneck speed, apparently it’s a breed trait, and it’s hilarious.
-don’t bark… well not often. Hani’s very quiet, so quiet most people forget he’s around.
-learn easily. Training him is pretty easy, being consistent is hard. Right now he’s learning ‘dance’ which for him means leaping into the air and doing a full spin. It’s pretty cute. He’s also learning to heal next to me off leash. He’s doing well, I can trust he’ll stay by me.
-they were bred as companion dogs and they love most people, good with children and other pets. He used to share his food with the neighbor cat. Hani does well being left alone for a few hours a day, but the breed doesn’t do well being left for long days alone. They really should be around people most of the time.
-are small but sturdy dogs, most are around 15lbs, Hani is only 10 lbs… so it’s easy for me to take him everywhere. I can carry my groceries, camera, purse, and the dog.

Jennifer & Bella | Yakima Photography
June 19, 2009
I had the opportunity to photograph in my lovely hometown of Yakima Washington. I feel like I adore all my clients equally but sometimes one comes around that is extra special. Jennifer is a friend of many of my friends in Yakima… I don’t know how we managed to miss each other all these years! Now that I know she’s around, and a total kindred spirit, I’m going to sneak her off to go wine tasting next time I’m in town.
I loved these portraits of Jennifer and daughter Bella.
Jennifer is also a photographer in Yakima and does incredible work. View her site at:

Roses | Portland Photography
June 18, 2009
I had a shoot with Chelsea Fuss of {Frolic!} today. She sent me home with the most perfect impromptu bouquet from her mothers garden. Roses. I can’t get my nose out of them, they are scrumptious, the light pink smells of cherries, the dark pink more powdery, and the yellow like heaven. Thank you Chelsea and Chelsea’s mom… these look so pretty in my office.

June 17, 2009
Lately I’ve been in love with Peonies. My mom had some she cut from her garden in a big vase on the kitchen counter. I couldn’t get enough of them, I constantly had my nose in them… they smelled amazing. Anyone know of a lovely peony perfume? Or hand soap? Or Candle?
These peonies were photographed today at Ink & Peat on Willams, stop by and pick some up. Say hi to Pam for me!

Hello! I am in lovely Yakima to celebrate my sister’s birthday.
Yakima is a lovely little town located in central Washington. My family has been there for generations, and with 300+ days of sunshine and gorgeous views of Mt Adams who can blame them?
Wine tasting in the Yakima Valley can be a wonderful experience. Have lunch at the Magic Kitchen, then pick up some just picked that day produce at the adjacent local fruit stand. Order your yearly ration of huckleberries. Pick up some Klicker’s (oh my they are AMAZING). If you are staying overnight, as you should after all that delicious wine, stay at the charming White House. Then treat yourself to a massage at the renowned Ummelina Day Spa.

Crave Portland… The Book is Here!
May 12, 2009
I was the photographer for 28 of the businesses listed in this book and with my shoots in Oahu I honestly wasn’t sure if it was even possible to photograph so many in such a short amount of time. Well, it was, I don’t think I slept. And… it was a blast. I loved it! And the best thing… wait for it…
I was told that I was the most talented photographer the Crave Books have ever worked with, in all of their books they’ve ever done in any location.
That just made my week, and my cheeks turn red, thanks Crave!
To keep showing my support for local business I am offering very affordable photography for any Portland Designer or Boutique. Please contact me for details, pass the word along… and by all means Shop Local. Love you Portland and all your wonderful people!

Portland Local Business Spotlight: Indigo Bath

I adore this store, I really do. I think I want everything in it. While I was shooting a few customers came in needing more Turkish bath towels… not for them, but to give to people they know, because once you use them you never go back to terry cloth and they were so excited that they had to share. I have to say the towels are stunning, and I want some… along with the Syrian soaps and the Turkish bath mitts and the….
